This week's blog is written by Stacey Primary's Year 6 class who have been working on a project called Home From Home. Read below to learn about their work in supporting Trinity Centre:
Mae blog yr wythnos hon wedi’i ysgrifennu gan ddosbarth Blwyddyn 6 Ysgol Gynradd Stacey sydd wedi bod yn gweithio ar brosiect o’r enw "Home From Home". Darllenwch isod i ddysgu am eu gwaith yn cefnogi Canolfan y Drindod:
This term, Year 6 at Stacey Primary have been learning about refugees and asylum seekers through our Inquiry – Home from Home. We started by learning about why refugees have to leave their homes, and the often-treacherous journeys they face getting to safety.
Because of this we wanted to help any refugees living in our community. Mrs Giles, our teacher, found out about the Trinity Centre and we had a meeting with Fflur to ask about what support the charity would like. We found out how many people the Trinity Centre help, and that they need donations of money to help run the centre and hygiene products.
We then had to decide how we would go about fundraising. We thought of lots of ideas, but our favourite was to put on a show: Stacey’s Got Talent, asking people to pay for tickets to attend the show and to wear non-uniform.
Y tymor hwn, mae Blwyddyn 6 yn Ysgol Gynradd Stacey wedi bod yn dysgu am ffoaduriaid a cheiswyr lloches trwy ein Hymchwiliad – "Home From Home". Dechreuon ni drwy ddysgu pam fod yn rhaid i ffoaduriaid adael eu cartrefi, a’r teithiau sy’n aml yn beryglus i gyrraedd diogelwch.
Oherwydd hyn roeddem eisiau helpu unrhyw ffoaduriaid sy'n byw yn ein cymuned. Daeth Mrs Giles, ein hathrawes, i wybod am Ganolfan y Drindod a chawsom gyfarfod gyda Fflur i holi pa gefnogaeth hoffai’r elusen. Cawsom wybod faint o bobl y mae Canolfan y Drindod yn eu helpu, a bod angen rhoddion ariannol arnynt i helpu i redeg y ganolfan a chynhyrch hylendid.
Roedd yn rhaid i ni wedyn benderfynu sut i fynd ati i godi arian. Fe wnaethon ni feddwl am lawer o syniadau, ond ein ffefryn oedd cynnal sioe: Stacey’s Got Talent, yn gofyn i bobl dalu am docynnau i fynychu’r sioe ac am dydd gwisg anffurfiol.
We created videos to show each class to inform them about refugees but to also persuade them to help! We also wrote a letter to send to parents asking for donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes and shampoo.
We managed to raise over£270 and collect 3 large boxes of donations! We were very proud to deliver the donations and money to the Trinity Centre and hope that we can work more with them in the future. We also learnt a lot about how important it is to care for people within our school and community, and to make sure our school is a place of sanctuary for everyone.
Fe wnaethon ni greu fideos i ddangos i bob dosbarth i roi gwybod iddyn nhw am ffoaduriaid ond hefyd i'w perswadio i helpu! Fe wnaethom hefyd ysgrifennu llythyr i'w anfon at rieni yn gofyn am roddion o bast dannedd, brwsys dannedd a siampŵ.
Llwyddwyd i godi dros £270 a chasglu 3 bocs mawr o chynyrch hylendid! Roeddem yn falch iawn o gyflwyno’r rhoddion a’r arian i Ganolfan y Drindod ac yn gobeithio y gallwn weithio mwy gyda nhw yn y dyfodol. Dysgon ni lawer hefyd am ba mor bwysig yw hi i ofalu am bobl o fewn ein hysgol a’n cymuned, a gwneud yn siŵr bod ein hysgol yn lle noddfa i bawb.
We've been so lucky to build a relationship with this class and are so grateful for all the support. We can't wait to work with you again - Thank You!
Rydym wedi bod mor ffodus i datblygu perthynas gyda'r dosbarth hwn ac rydym mor ddiolchgar am yr holl gefnogaeth. Ni allwn aros i weithio gyda chi eto - Diolch o galon!
